Zara clothing brand was founded by Amancio Ortega Gaona, Forbes 8th richest person, who is the world's most influential fashion business figure and the chairman of Inditex Group, in Spanish: Industrias de Diseño Textil Sociedad Anónima. The first Zara clothing store was opened in Coruña in 1975 as the subdivision of Inditex Group. The store, located on the main shopping street was of great success and the company started to expand to other cities of Spain in the beginning of 80s, later in 1988 to Portugal then to the US, UK and the whole world. Prior to Zara, Ortega was in business selling bathrobes in Confecciones Goa, the company he owned.
Zara clothing today has reached the highest selling numbers due to its popularity in the fashion world. The famous clothes and accessories are successfully sold in as many as 1,500 stores in 71 countries' biggest cities. Zara clothing has crossed and erased borders among generations, cultures and nations, bringing the latest and most wanted designs to the voguish customer. Zara clothing products, styled by the team of over 200 designers go along the fashion trends and even outrun the others as it takes just a week to complete the production process and deliver the clothing items to the stores world-wide!
Zara produces over 11 thousand clothing articles a year, Zara holds the record that beats its competitors by 3 times. The UK customers enjoy shopping for their favourite clothes at Zara, as the product catalogue fully changes every month, you can revisit the store and find it all new! Zara has stores selling children's clothing as well, called Kiddy’s Class, they are located in some European countries and Zara has plans to expand more.
